Written by BUF Buffalo Airport Taxi

COVID-19 Travel Requirements

  • No symptoms or signs of COVID-19 (if you have symptoms of COVID-19, you will not be allowed into Canada).
  • You must spend 14 days in quarantine at your own expense if you have not received your full course of vaccination with an approved COVID-19 vaccine or a combination of approved vaccinations.
  • You are exempt from the 14-day quarantine requirement if you have received the entire course of an approved COVID-19 vaccination or an approved combination of vaccines.
  • You received your most recent dose at least 14 days before entering Canada (ex: if your last dose was anytime on Wednesday September 1st, then Thursday, September 16th would be the first day that you meet the 14-day condition)
  • Within 72 hours of your departure, you must upload your vaccination record to the ArriveCAN app. You need to fulfill every other entry condition (for example, current passport, visa, if required).

All travellers must use ArriveCAN:

  1. Set up your ArriveCAN account before you travel
  2. Submit your travel information before arriving in Canada
  3. Present your ArriveCAN receipt at the border

You must adhere to all of these rules in order to enter or depart from Canada as a fully immunized traveler.

Have the following items on hand, whether you’re traveling by car or plane or taxi, so that they can be evaluated by a border patrol agent (travelers cannot use WiFi at land border crossings):

Quotes

"Today’s announcement would not be possible without Canadians’ continued efforts to vaccinate themselves, wear their masks, and follow public health advice while travelling. Our Government’s commitment will always be to protect passengers, employees, and their communities from the impacts of COVID-19, while keeping our transportation system strong, efficient, and resilient for the long-term." The Honourable Omar Alghabra Minister of Transport

From: Public Health Agency of Canada

Checklist items to have with you for assessment by a Border Services Officer:

  • Receipt from ArriveCAN showing two photos for each of the two vaccine doses.
  • your original immunization certificate
  • additional travel documents (passport, itineraries, etc.)

The Government of Canada COVID-19 page will have the most up-to-date information regarding entering the nation due to new criteria.
